Changes in population from migration and immigration

Positive international immigration overshadowed losses from interprovincial migration, resulting in a net increase of 3,646 people to Manitoba’s population in the fourth quarter of 2024. This was a decrease of 62.5% from the fourth quarter of 2023.

Changes in population from movement within Canada

Some 1,973 people moved to Manitoba from other provinces in the fourth quarter of 2024, down 15.3% from a year earlier. A total of 2,525 people left the province for elsewhere in Canada in the fourth quarter, a decrease of 27.4% from the same period in 2023. The result was a net loss of 552 people from Manitoba’s population in the fourth quarter. This was a decrease of 52% from the fourth quarter of 2023.

Changes in population from immigration

International immigration added 4,198 people to Manitoba’s population in the fourth quarter of 2024. This was a decrease of 61.4% from the same period in 2023.
