Ontario Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Ontario was 7.5% as of April 2025, unchanged from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 5.5% below the peak in June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 35,800 fewer full-time jobs in April 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 20,700 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 15,100 total jobs in April.
Full-time employment was still down 43,100 jobs from the peak in February 2025.
