Alberta Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Alberta was 7.3% as of August 2024, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.3% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 11,900 more full-time jobs in August 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 5,100 part-time positions led to an increase of 6,800 total jobs in August.
Full-time employment was still down 4,200 jobs from the peak in April 2024 but stood 18,200 jobs above the trough in June 2024.
