Okanagan Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in the Okanagan region was 4.5% as of October 2024, down 0.2% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.5% below the peak from June 2009 and is below the long-run average.
There were 3,100 more full-time jobs in October 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 1,000 part-time positions led to an increase of 2,100 total jobs in October.
Full-time employment was still down 13,700 jobs from the peak in May 2023 but stood 3,100 jobs above the trough in September 2024.
