Barrie Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Barrie was 6.5% as of August 2024, up 0.3% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.9% below the peak from January 2021 and is below the long-run average.

There were 200 fewer full-time jobs in August 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 300 part-time positions led to an increase of 100 total jobs in August.

Full-time employment was still down 13,400 jobs from the peak in February 2023.
