The unemployment rate in Calgary was 6.8% as of July 2026, down 0.3% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 8.7% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.
There were 2,000 more full-time jobs in July 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 2,600 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 600 total jobs in July.
Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in May 2025 and now stands at a record high.
