Calgary Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Calgary was 7.7% as of August 2025, unchanged from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.8% below the peak in June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 2,200 fewer full-time jobs in August 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 3,200 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 5,400 total jobs in August.
Full-time employment was still down 16,800 jobs from the peak in February 2025 but stood 7,700 jobs above the trough in May 2025.
