Toronto Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Toronto was 8.1% as of March 2026, unchanged from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7% below the peak in July 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 9,500 fewer full-time jobs in March 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 1,500 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 11,000 total jobs in March.
Full-time employment was down 18,900 jobs from the peak in January 2026.
