Edmonton Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Edmonton was 7.1% as of April 2026, up 0.6% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 8.4% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 3,600 fewer full-time jobs in April 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with an unchanged number of part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 3,600 total jobs in April.
Full-time employment was down 4,800 jobs from the peak in January 2026.
