Edmonton Employment Trends

 

The unemployment rate in Edmonton was 7.2% as of January 2025, down 0.3% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 8.3% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 1,000 more full-time jobs in January 2025 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 500 part-time positions led to an increase of 1,500 total jobs in January.

Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in July 2024 and now stands at a record high.
