Edmonton Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Edmonton was 6.9% as of August 2026, unchanged from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 8.6% below the peak in June 2020 and is on par with the long-run average.

There were 6,700 fewer full-time jobs in August 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 8,900 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 2,200 total jobs in August.

Full-time employment was down 7,800 jobs from the peak in June 2026.
