Kingston Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Kingston was 6% as of April 2026, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.4% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 300 fewer full-time jobs in April 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with an unchanged number of part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 300 total jobs in April.

Full-time employment was down 2,500 jobs from the peak in May 2023 but stood 3,100 jobs above the trough in February 2024.
