Kingston Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Kingston was 6.4% as of April 2024, down 0.6% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 1,300 more full-time jobs in April 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 300 part-time positions led to an increase of 1,000 total jobs in April.

Full-time employment was still down 4,100 jobs from the peak in May 2023 but stood 2,200 jobs above the trough in January 2024.
