London Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in London was 8.4% as of September 2026, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 3.2% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 200 more full-time jobs in September 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 1,900 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 1,700 total jobs in September.
Full-time employment was down 14,700 jobs from the peak in October 2023 but stood 5,300 jobs above the trough in April 2026.
