Toronto Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Toronto was 6.8% as of July 2026, down 0.4% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 8.3% below the peak from July 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 4,000 fewer full-time jobs in July 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 15,100 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 11,100 total jobs in July.

Full-time employment was down 10,900 jobs from the peak in January 2026 but stood 15,900 jobs above the trough in April 2026.
