Winnipeg Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Winnipeg was 6.2% as of February 2026, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 1,000 fewer full-time jobs in February 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 500 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 1,500 total jobs in February.
Full-time employment was down 5,200 jobs from the peak in May 2025 but stood 9,600 jobs above the trough in August 2025.
