Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo was 8.5% as of June 2026, down 0.2% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 4.6% below the peak from July 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 400 more full-time jobs in June 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 100 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 300 total jobs in June.
Full-time employment was down 4,700 jobs from the peak in May 2025 but stood 1,000 jobs above the trough in August 2025.
