Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo was 7.8% as of April 2025, down 0.5% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 5.3% below the peak from July 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 2,000 more full-time jobs in April 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 1,500 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 3,500 total jobs in April.
Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in February 2025 and now stands at a record high.
