Kamloops Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Kamloops was 5.5% as of August 2026, down 1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 8.7% below the peak from April 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 1,100 more full-time jobs in August 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 1,200 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 100 total jobs in August.

Full-time employment was down 19,600 jobs from the peak in April 2025 but stood 2,300 jobs above the trough in May 2026.
