Changes in population from migration and immigration
Positive net international immigration was overshadowed by losses from interprovincial migration, resulting in a net decrease of 343 people to New Brunswick’s population in the fourth quarter of 2025. This was a reversal from the net gain of 2,930 people from the fourth quarter of 2024.
Changes in population from movement within Canada
Some 1,796 people moved to New Brunswick from other provinces in the fourth quarter of 2025, down 22.1% from a year earlier. A total of 2,158 people left the province for elsewhere in Canada in the fourth quarter, an increase of 9.4% from the same period in 2024. The result was a net loss of 362 people from New Brunswick’s population in the fourth quarter. This was a reversal from the net gain of 335 people from the fourth quarter of 2024.
Changes in population from immigration
Net international immigration added 19 people to New Brunswick’s population in the fourth quarter of 2025. This was a reversal from the net gain of 2,595 people from the same period in 2024.
