Negative net international immigration added to losses from interprovincial migration, resulting in a net decrease of 357 people to Prince Edward Island’s population in the fourth quarter of 2025. This was an increase of 600% from the fourth quarter of 2024.
Changes in population from movement within Canada
Some 574 people moved to Prince Edward Island from other provinces in the fourth quarter of 2025, up 29.3% from a year earlier. A total of 645 people left the province for elsewhere in Canada in the fourth quarter, an increase of 3.2% from the same period in 2024. The result was a net loss of 71 people from Prince Edward Island’s population in the fourth quarter. This was a decrease of 60.8% from the fourth quarter of 2024.
Changes in population from immigration
Net international immigration subtracted 286 people from Prince Edward Island’s population in the fourth quarter of 2025. This was a reversal from the net gain of 130 people from the same period in 2024.
