Saskatchewan Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Saskatchewan was 5.5% as of September 2024, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.1% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 2,900 more full-time jobs in September 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 800 part-time positions led to an increase of 2,100 total jobs in September.

Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in May 2024 and now stands at a record high.

Regina Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Regina was 6.3% as of September 2024, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 5.6% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 1,100 more full-time jobs in September 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 1,400 part-time positions led to a decrease of 300 total jobs in September.

Full-time employment was still down 4,500 jobs from the peak in December 2023 but stood 3,700 jobs above the trough in June 2024.

Saskatoon Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Saskatoon was 5.4% as of September 2024, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 8.5% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 2,000 more full-time jobs in September 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 700 part-time positions led to an increase of 1,300 total jobs in September.

Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in April 2024 and now stands at a record high.
