Atlantic Consumer Confidence
According to the Conference Board of Canada, consumer confidence in the Atlantic region ticked sideways in November 2024.
Concerning job prospects over the next six months, the number of respondents expressing optimism or uncertainty over the near future of job prospects trended near historically low levels in November, but both ticked higher as the number of respondents expecting stability regarding the future of the job market moved down.
Regarding expectations for their household budget over the next six months, the number of respondents expecting stability over the future of their financial position was overwhelmingly high while the number of respondents expressing pessimism continued to trend lower.
Sentiment about making major purchases, like a home or a car, remains at historically subdued levels but continued to improve in November. The overall percentage of consumers who thought it was a good time to make a major purchase was up in November compared to the previous month.
