Nova Scotia Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Nova Scotia was 6.5% as of October 2025, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.2% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.
There were 1,000 fewer full-time jobs in October 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 500 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 1,500 total jobs in October.
Full-time employment was still down 2,800 jobs from the peak in July 2025.

Halifax-Dartmouth Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Halifax was 5.8% as of October 2025, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.3% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.
There were 2,300 fewer full-time jobs in October 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 900 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 1,400 total jobs in October.
Full-time employment was still down 6,100 jobs from the peak in July 2025.
