Atlantic Consumer Confidence

 

According to the Conference Board of Canada, consumer confidence in the Atlantic region moved lower in January 2025.

Concerning job prospects over the next six months, the number of respondents expressing uncertainty over the near future of job prospects trended higher in January.

Regarding expectations for their household budget over the next six months, the number of respondents expecting stability over the future of their financial position declined while the number of respondents expressing optimism trended higher.

Sentiment about making major purchases, like a home or a car, remained at subdued levels in January. The overall percentage of consumers who thought it was a good time to make a major purchase was down in January compared to the previous month, as the number of respondents expressing pessimism moved higher.
