British Columbia Employment Trends

 

The unemployment rate in British Columbia was 6.2% as of February 2026, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.7% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 1,300 more full-time jobs in February 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 8,700 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 7,400 total jobs in February.

Full-time employment was down 15,800 jobs from the peak in June 2025 but stood 18,700 jobs above the trough in October 2025.
